Arts Gowanus celebrated its first art parade in Gowanus on Saturday afternoon. This year's theme was "Creatures of the Canal: Real or Imaginary."
Hundreds of people showed up for the parade that started at 280 Nevins St. and ended at 2nd Street and Bond Street. Children and adults put on their best costumes during the event. Some said their costumes included trash and plastic to represent the pollution in the canal.
"We do have the best creative community in all of New York," said Johnny Thornton, executive director at Arts Gowanus. "It's so collaborative, it's so community oriented, it's so joyous and this is one of the events that brings us nothing but joy."
News 12's Daniella Rodriguez was at the parade with all of the fun and excitement.
