As part of Crime Victims Rights Week in New York, crime scene clean up crews are being thanked for their services and dedication to healing and cleanliness in the community. Bio-Recovery Corporation is one of the companies private citizens call to clean up the scene of a crime. Representatives from Bio-Recovery say it is an essential health service, especially because of disease often left behind in blood. The company uses high-power equipment to thoroughly sanitize the crime scene. Bio-Recovery owner and former emergency medical technician Ron Gospodarski says the work is not just a matter of public health, it facilitates the grieving process. Bio-Recovery Corporation service is usually covered by homeowners insurance or the New York State Crime Victims Board. Warning: Video material for this story may be graphic.
