It was a celebration of all things Italian as crowds took in the traditions at the Italian Heritage Festival in Valhalla on Sunday.

The festival at Kensico Dam Plaza drew hundreds of men, women and children who were all eager to enjoy the music and take part in the fun of "La Dolce Vita."

Ronald and Gayle Williamson, of Tuckahoe, make it a point to return year after year. The couple said there's always so much to see and do.

"We come for the culture and the food is great, we like to have a nice time on a Sunday afternoon," Ronald Williamson said.

"I like the dam. It's very pretty. We always have a good time," his wife added.

"I've come here at least five times. I like all the vendors, I like that booth...with the t-shirts with all the Italian sayings, but they didn't have my grandson's size," said Connie, a frequent festival attendee from Thornwood.

More cultural festivals are planned throughout the rest of the summer.

"These events are a reminder of our shared humanity and the rich diversity that describes us," said Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins.
