A pedestrian passageway on Kappock Street in Spuyten Duyvil is in desperate need of repair, but it is unclear whose responsibility it is to maintain it.
Neither the city nor a neighboring condominium claim ownership of the property.
“It’s a matter of safety and the city has to take responsibility and do the right thing,” says Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz.
The New York City Department of Transportation told News 12, "In the interest of public safety, [DOT crews] patched the area. If the pathway needs to be reconstructed, it would require confirmation of NYC ownership and capital reconstruction review.”
