The Cuban ambassador to the United Nations visited school children in the Bronx.
Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo shared her story with seventh-graders at the Academy of Applied Mathematics and Technology Tuesday.
The students are part of the New York City Junior Ambassadors program, which focuses on world issues.
The students raised money by selling homemade slime and hosting a talent show to buy supply boxes for refugees.
Only 500 students and educators across the city were selected for the city's program this year.
