The City University of New York All-Star baseball team is making a name for itself on its Goodwill Tour in Italy with a recent 11-3 victory.
Kingsborough Community College's Paul Rittenhouse helped lead the team to the win against Fiorentina, an Italian team coached by 1962 Brooklyn College graduate Don Landolphi. Rittenhouse allowed four hits and three runs, but struck out eight hitters during the game.
Baruch College's David Chestnut went 1 for 4 with a run and struck out a batter while relief pitching.
The team has one game remaining on the schedule, but has plenty to do off the diamond. The CUNY All-Stars have been conducting youth clinics, participating in community service projects and taking in the sights.
The tour is over July 5.
