While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has eased mask wearing, New Yorkers who are fully vaccinated can't completely get rid of their mask just yet.
Despite the CDC's announcement that fully vaccinated people can take their masks off indoors and outdoors, states can still enforce rules.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio came together Thursday to clarify that masks in the state of New York are still required at indoor establishments.
This means masks are still required at restaurants, businesses, public transportation, gyms and fitness centers.
However, Gov. Cuomo said his team is working with doctors to review the new mask guidance and decide the best option for New York.
This announcement comes as gyms and fitness centers are allowed to increase their capacity to 50% today.
