York Cleaners closed unexpectedly after being evicted from its Jerome Avenue building and customers say they want their dry cleaning back.

Customers who have been inconvenienced by the closing say weeks have passed with no notice from the store. They called phone numbers listed for the dry cleaners, but found the lines were disconnected. Some said they suspected the company knew they were going to be evicted but continued without notifying customers.

A representative from Sopher Realty says the store will open on Tuesday, May 15 so customers can pick up their clothing. The company will also post updated information outside the store as to when customers can retrieve their clothing, if they cannot do so Tuesday.
