The swimming ban at New York City beaches prompted by rip currents from Hurricane Erin has been extended to a third day.
Mayor Eric Adams posted on X video of high waves at Coney Island and announced that swimming at city braches will remain prohibited on Friday.
He also urged New Yorkers to stay safe and follow the warnings.
Although Hurricane Erin is not expected to make landfall, its impacts are continuing to be felt along the East Coast.
Erins impacts are making the conditions along the shoreline very dangerous to the point where experts say waves can reach nine to 13 feet.
Lifeguards and parks enforcement will be posted along the shoreline to enforce the swimming ban.
