Friday marks the deadline to apply for a spot in New York City's 2024 Summer Youth Employment Program.
Spots at camps are already filling up and local businesses are hiring.
High school students who intern at the Childrens' Arts and Sciences Workshop in Crotona Park got a little taste of the sort of opportunities that are being offered.
According to the city, there's a 100,000 total spots that they hope to fill, providing both jobs and paid opportunities for six weeks in July and August.
These are not normal summer jobs at the pool or working the cash register.
Instead, the program wants people to be able to get a foot into possible career opportunities with positions in everything from legal services to media to construction and the most popualr one - working with the NYPD.
To be eligible for 2024 Summer Youth Employment Program, applicants need to be between 14 and 24 years old, live in the five boroughs and legally allowed to work in New York City.
Applicants are put into a lottery to decide who gets the spots.
