Caleb Silver, with Investopedia, is breaking down the unemployment numbers in New York.
"The state wide unemployment rate for New York as of January was 5.3%, that's higher than the national average of 3.8%. A lot of that unemployment is concentrated in the NYC area were the unemployment rate is 7.3%. In Westchester much lower at 3.7% and Suffolk County 3.6% and Nassau County just 3.3% those two counties have seen a lot of job growth lately," says Silver.
What is the proportion of women in New York that have lost employment due to child care issues?
"According to a U.S. Bureau Household survey 12.2% of women in New York who responded say they have lost income, or a family member has lost income in the last four weeks alone due to child care issues," says Silver.
