The city's Department of Transportation has installed a deer crossing sign near City Island and Shore roads after the community voiced their concerns about the area.
Over the years, the deer population by Pelham Bay Park and City Island has grown tremendously as the animals travel from upstate to make the woods their new home.
Members with the City Island Civic Association have been working for seven years to get signs up.
Councilman James Vacca says that over the last two years, there's been a total of six deer-related car collisions along one strip of road in Pelham Bay Park.
