A Bronx mother of five says her dilapidated apartment -- cited with a slew of housing violations -- is not fit for her family to live in.
There are holes in the wall and floor, chipped lead paint and roaches inside Maria Gonzalez's Jerome Avenue apartment. Along with her five children, Gonzalez has been living in the Section 8 apartment for two months. She says she was transferred there from her previous home.
She claims that when she first saw the apartment in December, landlord Mohammed Ahsanuddin from Hafeeza Realty promised to renovate the place.
On May 8, inspectors from the Department of Health issued multiple violations, but Gonzalez says her landlord has yet to make any repairs.
"Our staff will conduct a special inspection of the apartment," officials told News 12 in a statement. "And take corrective action with the owner as necessary."?
