The engraved doors that were once aboard the dining room of the SS Normandie can now be found at a Brooklyn church.

The doors were salvaged from the bottom of the Hudson River and resized to fit on the entrance of our Lady Of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Cathedral in Brooklyn Heights.

"Having these doors is significant, coming from a ship it's like they sealed the tradition of the church being a ship sailing through the waves of the world," says Father Dominique Hanna.

Hanna says people around the world have come to the church to see the doors.

Parts of the ship were able to be sold for scraps. This was when a priest at the Brooklyn church decided the arched doors engraved with images of Normandie and six remaining medallions would be a perfect fit at two cathedral entrances.
