Doctors urge commuters to be mindful, practice good hygiene while using public transportation

Ridership on the Long Island Rail Road is down. However, as more people get back on trains, doctors are reminding us to be mindful when using public transportation.
Dr. Salvatore Pardo, the chair of emergency medicine at LIJ Valley Stream Hospital, says while you don't have to double mask, an N95 is your best option.
"Ideally you want to be vaccinated, wear a mask and practice good hand hygiene and try to space yourself from other passengers as much as you can,” says Pardo.
However, other health experts advise you to stay away from public transportation if you can and, of course, contact your doctor if you are sick.
