A South Bronx school principal is still at work, despite being attacked twice while on the job in less than one year.
According to the Department of Education (DOE), Banana Kelly High School Principal Antonia Arocho was shot in the thigh by a BB gun while welcoming students on the morning of Sept. 21. The NYPD and EMS were called, but Arocho was not seriously injured and returned to work.
Officials say that police were also called to the school when Arocho and at least 13 students were treated following a pepper spraying incident last November.
Many shop owners and residents in the surrounding community say they're worried about the violence and always see officers at the school during dismissal.
