The famous Domino Sugar sign in Brooklyn is back up and fully lit for the first time since 2014.
The sign long stood atop the former Domino Sugar refinery factory and was once the tallest building in Brooklyn. When the factory closed and the land was being redeveloped, the sign continued to look over the East River before being removed as construction picked up.
The sign is now back and better than ever, welcoming New Yorkers to Domino Park and the newly redeveloped area. While a lot of the former factor land now houses apartments, the refinery building will now host office spaces.
Dave Lombino, managing director of Two Trees, the company who put the sign back up, says the sign’s return is a symbol of progress. Two Trees says they expect construction on the refinery should be done in one year.
