New York City officials held a coat and clothing drive Saturday to help those affected by the five-alarm fire in the Bronx that killed 12 people Thursday night.

Clothes, coats, shoes and even water and canned goods were collected at the Church of Saint Martin Tours to help displaced residents.

Toys were also donated for the children who might have lost Christmas gifts in the fire.

People say they want to give back in any way they can.

"You know when you're part of a community it touches you deeply and this could have been my building," says Shirley Taylor-Dunn. "I would want people to show up and to help out and so you know I brought some things down as best I could to do just that."

In addition to the donation drive, local officials are partnering with the Red Cross to coordinate relief efforts.

According to the NYPD, drop-off locations around the city were filled to capacity as of Saturday evening and are no longer accepting donations.
