The Department of Transportation says that parts of the Belt Parkway and the Gowanus Expressway are closed this weekend.
The ramp from the Belt Parkway to the Gowanus Expressway in Bay Ridge will be closed overnight. Those who plan to drive westbound on the Belt Parkway will not be able to take the ramp to the eastbound Gowanus Expressway I-278. The ramp will close at around midnight Saturday until Sunday morning at 6 a.m.
To access the eastbound I-278 during that time, drivers should take Exit 1 and follow detour signs.
The DOT says the closure is part of a $168 million painting and steel repairs project on the Gowanus Expressway that spans from the Hugh L Carey tunnel to 6th Avenue in Brooklyn.
The DOT also urges drivers to be cautious around work zones.
