Dozens of concerned parents and caregivers are saying enough is enough as they gathered outside Gracie Mansion Wednesday to demand the reopening of New York City Public Schools.
Parents say they are frustrated and angry, and say their children have been suffering since public schools closed last week.
These parents are demanding Mayor Bill de Blasio reopen schools on Monday.
Holding dozens of signs, the group of parents, teachers and students rallied outside Gracie Mansion to demand the mayor keep his promise and come up with a plan to reopen schools.
They say so far, the city hasn't come up with a reopening plan leaving their children in remote learning limbo.
This is the third rally since Mayor de Blasio closed public schools on Nov. 19 after the city's COVID infection rate reached 3% over a seven-day period.
About 15,000 families have signed a petition to keep New York City schools open.
Parents say public schools should remain open for the more than 300,000 students who chose blended learning because overall schools have been shown to have the lowest COVID rates in the city.
They say full remote for the country’s largest public-school system is not the answer and is doing more harm than good.
Organizers say about 60,000 students still don't have iPads for remote learning, making learning at home impossible. They say they will keep the pressure on Mayor de Blasio until he reopens the city's public schools.
