Dr. Anthony Fauci is speaking about the new BA.2 variant, emphasizing
just how transmissible it is.
"It has a degree of transmission advantage over the original
Omicron, but not multifold advantage," says Fauci. "So, it's about 50
to 60% or so more transmissible, which means ultimately, over time, it might
take over as the dominant variant."
Fauci adds he's
watching the spike of COVID-19 cases in Europe, and while it is
spreading fast there, cases do not appear to be as severe.
