Millions of dollars have been invested in fixing up three bridges in the Bronx to make them safer for drivers.

The Pennyfield Avenue Bridge was among the three to see improvements from the $12.5 million investment by the Department of Transportation. Drivers say the bridge which links the Throgs Neck and Cross Bronx expressways used to be plagued by traffic.

Some of the work on the bridge included repaving, filling in potholes at both entrances and upgrading the lighting both above and below deck. A traffic light was also added where there used to be a stop sign.

The city is also trying to make the area safer by adding a new traffic signal on the north side and replacing the one at the other end.

Most residents News 12 spoke with were happy with the improvements and say they have helped to clear up traffic in the area.
