The owner of Dyker Tree is ready for some busy weeks ahead but warns customers of the limited selection and higher prices due to supply chain issues.
"Less people to load trees, less people to cut trees," says Kevin DeJesus. "We've had a lot of fires out west and all of that combined with COVID."
Besides potential shortages, the price of trees has gone up. At Dyker Tree, the price has increased by 20% to 30%.
"The wholesale prices definitely doubled," says DeJesus. "I'm trying to keep the prices fair for everybody in New York."
DeJesus says he's hopeful that there are enough trees around for everyone. His advice is to make sure you snag a Balsam or Fraiser fir this year and maybe get your tree earlier.
DeJesus says he is confident that he has enough supply of trees to meet the demands of his customers. He says the upcoming weekend will be a good indicator for the rest of the month.
