The East Flatbush community held a block party in honor of late actor Michael K. Williams on Monday, on what would’ve been his birthday.
Monday was also the inaugural celebration of Michael Kenneth Williams Day.
This all was put together by an organization called We Build the Block, which Williams helped to launch before he died.
They advocate for public safety and police reform. Organizers say Williams was instrumental in working with local community organizations, young people, and those who are incarcerated to create change in Brooklyn.
The community says it is important to bring people together in a positive light.
