An economist is offering cost-saving tips for people who are flying this summer.
Hayley Berg, a lead economist at Hopper, says that some current deals are just too good to be true.
“I am seeing trips to Nashville, Miami, Fort Myers, West Palm Beach, Myrtle Beach… all from NYC for less than $150 round trip!” said Berg.
To score some of these deals, timing is important. Berg says that trips for September and October are significantly cheaper than those in June and July.
To get a really good deal, it helps to also be flexible about what airport you choose to fly in and out of.
“We have Newark, LaGuardia, JFK,” said Berg. “There are many different airlines that fly out of just one of those airports.”
When searching, Berg recommends to look at all airports and airlines. Berg also says that “hacker deals” can help you save big – booking two one-way flights can make round-trip travel cheaper.
