Parents could be seen giving their children high-fives at the doorsteps of P.S 68 celebrating the last day of classes.

The end of the school year comes after 180 days of hard work, and a snow day back in February.

While parents and teachers celebrated, some of the children tell News 12 they are not ready to say goodbye to their classroom.

“I’m feeling sad…I’m going to miss school and class,” said 9-year-old Sariah.

While public schools will close their doors for the summer, city resources will remain open. Free summer meals will run from June 29 to Sept. 4, offering breakfast and lunch options.

The program is available for anyone under 18 years of age, with no sign-ups required. The meals will be distributed at pools, parks, libraries and schools throughout the borough.
