Neighbors in Edenwald are calling on the city to curb speeding at a dangerous intersection where they say accidents are frequent.
Residents say speeding cars have created problems for years on Baychester Avenue near Edenwald Avenue. The intersection was the site of a fender-bender last weekend, and over the summer, a man was killed trying to cross the road.
People who live in the area say they've lost count of the crashes over the years. "Every time I hear tires screeching and metal crunching, I'm running to see make sure it's not my family," says resident Tiffany Summerville.
Residents say they have complained to local officials about speeding in the area. Back in 2012, the city's Department of Transportation said it would evaluate the intersection for possible safety measures, but neighbors say they've never seen the results.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Transportation for comment, but was told to expect a response on Tuesday due to the Columbus Day holiday on Monday.
