Members of the New York state Senate and Assembly stood in unison Thursday, saying they won’t stand for the Supreme Court’s decision on New York’s gun law Thursday.

The Supreme Court’s decision makes it so that New Yorkers no longer need to demonstrate a need to get a license to carry a concealed gun in public. The highest court says the New York law violated the second amendment.

Elected officials outside City Hall on Thursday the court chose guns over the lives of our children, calling the decision a disgrace in the wake of several mass shootings, from Buffalo to Uvalde.

“Now if anyone can get a gun, we’re going to be in big trouble,” said state Sen. Robert Jackson.

The caucus says they plan to take action to strengthen active laws that could include safe spaces, property rights, and the permit application process.
