EMT workers and paramedics rallied for a better contract Thursday outside City Hall.

The union representing the workers has been negotiating for a new contract with the Office of Labor Relations for months. The city offered a little more than a 7.5 percent salary increase over four years but union leaders say that was an insult. Workers are demanding pay equal to that of police and firefighters. According to the union, the top pay of paramedics and EMT workers is far less than that of police officers and firefighters.

Many EMT workers and paramedics say they can't live on their salary and often have to work a second job to survive.
