Escape to Home: Custom spring planters

Springtime is here, and so are some of the season's most beautiful flowers.
You could spend over $100 to have a professional put together a custom spring planter for you. Or, you can check out this week's Escape to Home to learn how to make your own for almost half that.
Jeannette Demakopoulos, from Hicks Nurseries, helped put together the perfect spring planter with beautiful bright colors, and an array of inviting aromas. Here are some tips:
1. Start off with a lightweight pot.
2. Add potting mix.
3. Add three to five flowers - Hicks always works in odd numbers. Crunch the roots a bit to loosen the soil before adding to the pot.
4. Choose flowers of different heights and different states of blooming.
5. Don't be afraid to make a mess!

Now for our 3 Cs:
Can I even do this? Jeanette says anyone can do it.
Commitment: If you're a beginner, putting this together could take about an hour.
Cost: About $60, including the $30, 14-inch pot that can be reused.
