For the first time ever, patients and visitors of NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi no longer have to choose between healthy food and food that's affordable.
A partnership between the hospital and Every Table officially launched Thursday offering healthy meals that cost as little as $5.
"What we're trying to do with the partnership is put our stores inside of all the hospitals," said Bobby Kobara, Every Table's strategic partnership manager. "So that after you receive whatever treatment you're getting when you're staying in the hospital, you're able to get whole food ingredients and nutritious meals that can better support your recovery."
According to Kobara, the company based the pricing of its menu on the median income of those living in the Bronx. That menu offers healthy meals ranging from salads, sandwiches and salmon to pasta and Jamaican jerk chicken. It's food that he says feels familiar to the community that they serve.
"We really want to make sure that our recipes are meeting the needs of the community," said Kobara. "We're meeting them where they're at so that they want to come in and try our food."
This is the first Every Table inside of a NYC Health + Hospitals facility. Officials say the goal is to place them in every one across the city.
