An animal rescue group in the Bronx says it is stepping in to help cats that they say are in danger of being mauled to death by pit bulls.
Social media users have made their voices heard about recent incidents in their area. One video shows a pit bull shaking a black-and-white cat with its mouth. The video drew the attention of local animal rescue organizations like Little Wanderers NYC.
Courtney Chandel, co-founder of Little Wanderers, helps rescue stray animals off the city’s streets. She says that she works with cats and even knows some people in the area who help feed the strays.
Residents in the area tell News 12 that there are some people in the Gun Hill Houses that are known to be breeding these pit bulls to kill.
Police say an investigation by PSA 8 and the Animal Cruelty Investigation Squad is underway.
