A Bronx family is demanding justice after they say their 5-year-old son was slammed to the ground by a school volunteer at P.S. 72.

According to the NYPD, 35-year-old Liliana Medina was arrested and charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17.

Police say she allegedly picked the child up, held him over her head and shook him before throwing him to the ground.

Josiah's mother, Venus Rivera, says she wasn't informed about the incident until two days later.

"Now, he's afraid to go back to school," Rivera said.

In a statement, the Department of Education called the incident "unacceptable" and said it is providing support to the family.
