A formerly incarcerated inmate at MDC spoke exclusively to News 12 about the conditions she lived in during her two years at the prison.

This comes after an interagency investigation was launched on Monday.

Olivia tells News 12 she was locked up for two years at MDC. Now 10 years later, she says people inside have told her the conditions have not changed for the better.

She is also a transgender woman and was originally placed in a protective custody unit, but when it was shut down, she was placed with men.

“It's like a Third World country in there," said Olivia. "If you have a mental health crisis, you’re more likely to be thrown into suicide, watch and an observation cell and get beaten up by cops.”

The Federal Bureau of Prisons told News 12 on Monday," "...this operation was preplanned and there is no active threat. In an effort to maintain the safety and security of all personnel inside the facility and the integrity of this operation, we are unable to provide additional information at this time. We will provide additional information at the conclusion of the operation. "Olivia says she will continue to speak out until changes is made for the inmates at the MDC.
