A Morris Park mother reported two attempted break-ins at her home within one week. Catherine Didesidero Sierra, who has lived in her home for over 10 years, described the incidents as a terrifying violation of her family’s safety. “I turned to my husband. I’m like, 'somebody tried to get in last night.' And we looked it over and we were both completely creeped out,” she said. On one occasion, a stranger was caught on her door cam, seen pressing on the handle with his back facing the door. Three days later, in broad daylight, someone was seen on camera trying to pick the lock. “It’s terrifying. It’s bad enough to think that when you go out and when no one’s home, somebody could break in. But being home with my kids, that’s the worst part,” Catherine added. Now, she’s increasing security measures in her home by changing the locks and installing extra cameras and sensors. She encourages her neighbors to stay vigilant and keep their doors locked. The NYPD tells News 12 it is investigating the situation and have so far, made no arrests.
