New Yorkers are expecting heavy rain to arrive in the city on Saturday and residents are already gearing up for potential flooding.
That includes residents in Pelham Gardens, a neighborhood hit by previous storms and familiar with flooding, especially three years ago during Hurricane Ida.
City officials say that 565 rain gardens and infiltration basins were installed in 12 Bronx neighborhoods including Belmont, Williamsbridge, Pelham Gardens and Morris Park to combat flooding issues.
The city has activated its flash flood emergency plan and the Department of Environmental Protection tells News 12 it is going across the five boroughs to clear catch basins of any debris.
