As the new year approaches, doctors and fitness experts say there is no special secret to getting healthy.

Experts say for some people, resolutions can be daunting and recommend people adopt attainable goals. They say being realistic helps people stay motivated throughout the year.

"The mind is a powerful thing, you got to get in there and say 'I can do a little bit more. Don't stop,'" says Gerardo Lambert, a personal trainer with BodyShock by Gerardo.

Doctors say people should move at least 30 minutes a day. Doing that movement outside can help people get physically and mentally fit.

Outdoor exercise can help people suffering from depression, which many experience at higher levels during the winter.

Doctors recommend getting enough sleep in 2024 and making an appointment for a check-up.
