The Federal Aviation Administration slowed air traffic Wednesday at New York City area airports.

The ongoing air quality issues left planes stuck on the ground and many travelers entering their terminals donning masks.

The FAA said the average ground delay for flights at LaGuardia Airport is two hours. Delays at Newark International Airport in New Jersey were on average an hour and a half. John F. Kennedy International Airport doesn’t have a mass ground delay, but flights were still at risk for delays.

Video shot by a traveler shows orange skies and several parked planes in a line on the tarmac not moving.

“New York’s never looked like this,” said traveler Ki Smith. “I thought it was a little cloudy… when you’re landing, you can’t see anything.”
