Fairfield police say there has been an uptick in attempted vehicle thefts in town and remind residents to prioritize personal safety.
The latest happened overnight Saturday in the area of Reef Road.
A homeowner was confronted by someone attempting to break into his car.
After the homeowner attempted to identify those involved, one of the suspects fired one gunshot before they fled in a dark colored SUV/Crossover type vehicle.
That suspect is described as a young, thin Black male with afro style hair
No one was injured.
Police strongly advise people to avoid any type of confrontation and call 911 immediately and provide essential details.
They suggest people observe the situation happening from a secure location and take note of vehicle descriptions and relevant details.
