City Island residents and customers had one last meal at the famed Lobster Box, which officially closed its doors Sunday.

City Island residents and customers had one last meal at the famed Lobster Box, which officially closed its doors Sunday.
While the restaurant changed ownership over the years, it was a fixture on the island since the late 1940s.
Many people on City Island said they have nothing but positive things to say as they reflected on their experiences at the Lobster Box.
With a lengthy menu and views of the Long Island sound, people kept coming back for unique eating experiences.
Lobster Box owner Bill Lambos said he is ready for retirement.
Since announcing that they were closing, Lambos said they were inundated with their loyal customers who came back for one final meal.
Lambos had been the owner of the restaurant for the last 14 years. He credited the Lobster Box's success to all of the hardworking staff, customers and community.
He said he will miss the restaurant dearly.
As for what's next, Lambos said he will take a break and then see where retirement takes him.
