The family of a World War II veteran from Brooklyn is mourning the loss of their loved one at 103 years old.
Lawton Corbett served as a buck sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was born on December 23, 1920, in South Carolina and died on May 12 in Ocean Hill.
The Corbett family told News 12 they will always remember the love he had to give to his seven children, and nearly double the number of grandchildren.
“Maybe like six years ago, I took him to my great niece's high school, and he spoke to all of the kids about WWII, they were studying WWII, so he was that kind of grandfather, and he was hands-on and whatever he could do to help, he was just there," said Zelphia Calhoun, Corbett's daughter.
News 12's Daniella Rodriguez was at the wake and spoke with the Corbett family about his death.
