A family from University Heights is begging the community to lend a hand as they continue their search for Verbena Burgess, who has been missing for nearly a week.
Burgess’ daughter, Shamecka Morrison, says that she hasn’t been able to sleep since her mother went missing. Morrison says her mother takes medication for a mental illness that causes her to be disoriented and dehydrated, and she’s in fear about where her mother may be.
Police say that Burgess was last seen at her home on Creston Avenue on Friday, Sept. 8 at 6:30 a.m. Burgess’ family says that when she disappeared, she was wearing black shorts, a black T-shirt and black sneakers.
Shamecka Morrison says she hopes for her mother’s safe return.
“Mom, if you’re out there, please come back. We will pick you up,” said Morrison. “We just want my mom home.”
