The father accused of throwing his baby boy into the Bronx River back in May appeared before a judge Thursday.

Arius Williams, 20, appeared in criminal court to face murder charges in the death of his son.

In May, prosecutors said Williams threw his son into the Bronx River while he was still alive.

A police report wasn't taken by the NYPD until almost a month later, though Montrell's mother says she went to them several times. On June 8, Williams threatened Montrell's mother with a knife and admitted to throwing their son into the river when she approached him. That sent NYPD dive teams on a two-day search into the river, where they ultimately found the toddler dead on June 11 near the Whitestone Bridge.

"I want Montrell to be remembered as a sweet little kind boy, innocent boy, that that that didn't deserve to die," said his grandmother.

An order of protection was extended for Montrell's mother, and Arius Williams' next court date is Dec.1.
