A fire ripped through a home early this morning, leaving at least one woman and a teenager dead and three children in critical condition, according to the FDNY.
Firefighters responded to 136 Fountain Ave. at 2:14 a.m. for a three-story building fire.
The FDNY says a 36-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a 17-year-old girl died at Brookdale Hospital. Three other children, ages 14, 10 and 9, were critically injured. A 39-year-old man is in serious but stable condition. A firefighter was also injured and is expected to be OK.
The fire was put out at around 3:13 a.m., but the NYPD’s Crime Scene Unit has been looking inside the home for hours. The NYPD’s Arson and Explosion Squad were also present, indicating a possibility the fire was intentionally set.
Neighbors say the family living inside the home was related to the owner of the deli Alhaddad Food Corp. just down the street.
The cause has yet to be determined.
