FDNY: 1 dead, 3 others injured after fire tears through Brownsville apartment building

Fire officials say that the fire started on the sixth floor of the building.

A large fire made its way through an apartment building located on Rockaway Parkway, injuring 3 people and killing one, according to the FDNY.
Fire officials say that the fire started on the sixth floor of the building. Video captured at around 2 p.m. shows heavy smoke taking over the nearby area, with dozens of firefighters at the scene working to put the flames out.
The fire department says that two people jumped from the building in an effort to save their lives, and those two were taken to a hospital where they currently are in critical condition.
Two other people suffered injuries in the fire and at this time their condition is unknown. A 49-year-old man died following this fire.
The FDNY is still working to determine the cause of the fire.
The Red Cross has confirmed that it is providing assistance to two households at this time.
