FDNY: 64 Melrose residents left homeless following massive apartment fire

Dozens of Melrose residents are waking up without a home following a massive apartment fire Tuesday night on College Avenue.

Fire officials say the fire began just before 11 p.m. and it took firefighters nearly two hours to get everything under control.

The FDNY says there were no major injuries. One person did go to the hospital, but will be OK.

According to the Department of Buildings, 64 residents of the building were displaced. Inspectors issued a full vacate order at the due to the fire damage.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
