The FDNY says a two-alarm apartment building fire sent nine people to the hospital in University Heights in the Bronx.
The fire broke out on a third floor apartment of the building on Grand Avenue around 6:30 a.m., where a couple was inside with their adult son. The fire then spread to other floors.
Over 100 firefighters responded to the scene.
The FDNY says all nine victims suffered mild injuries, mostly smoke inhalation. One of the victims was a pregnant woman and another was a firefighter.
The Red Cross is at the scene and say it’s helping four families in the wake of the incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This incident comes nearly a month after a fire at the Twin Parks apartments claimed the lives of 17 Bronx residents, including eight children.
