FDNY: Basement fire in Williamsbridge leaves 2 injured, 1 child dead

Sixty firefighters were at the scene working to subdue the flames. The fire was put under control just before 6:15 p.m.

A fire that broke out in the basement of a home in Williamsbridge Wednesday afternoon left two people injured and took the life of a 5-year-old child, according to the FDNY.  
Fire officials say that they responded to the scene at 5:20 p.m. at 4011 Barnes Ave., between East 227th and 226th streets. 
Sixty firefighters were at the scene working to subdue the flames. The fire was put under control just before 6:15 p.m.  
According to the NYPD, a 5-year-old child was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in critical condition. That child later died due to their injuries. 
An 83-year-old woman and a 26-year-old woman were also transported to Jacobi in stable condition.
