Members of the FDNY held an emergency press conference Saturday and called on Mayor Eric Adams to revoke vaccine mandates for the city's firefighters.
The call to revoke the mandates comes after Adams announced on Thursday that athletes and performers will now be exempt from the city's vaccine mandate, after it kept stars like the Brooklyn Nets Kyrie Irving from playing home games.
Right now, around 500 of the city's firefighters remain unvaccinated, and according to FDNY, 5 to 10 firefighters are being let go or forced to get the shot every week.
FDNY officials are hoping to meet with Adams and his team next week to discuss the possibility of revoking these measures.
