Police: 2 people arrested following drug bust in Belmont

The NYPD said one police officer and one law enforcement officer were taken to hospitals for injuries that were not life threatening.

Authorities say two people were arrested after they found 12 kilograms of fentanyl inside an apartment in Belmont.

Emergency crews were on the scene Tuesday evening for what the FDNY initially reported to be a fentanyl spill. The FDNY says hazmat, EMS and fire units were at 780 Garden St. between Prospect Avenue and Southern Boulevard.

The building also houses two day care centers, authorities said.

The NYPD said one police officer and one law enforcement officer were taken to hospitals for injuries that were not life-threatening.
